Unfortunately, the list of Swedish foreign policy concessions is getting longer and longer.

The Virginians used to talk through the loudspeaker. I would make the yoga studio nice and the teacher was from West Virginia. She would take swimming lessons at the YMCA. I already know how to swim. I remember seeing her at the YMCA and the swimming lessons. She would wear these full swimsuits that looked like a one piece with shorts. I don't know if I am supposed to clean this or that way based on if someone is from West Virginia. That's the kind of stuff the surveillance teams say with the loudspeaker.

The Swedish NATO process has come to a standstill after Swedish authorities enabled a far-right political figure to burn a copy of the Quran outside the Turkish Embassy in Stockholm, while for Finland it appears to be a straight path forward. Stenstrom said the NATO accession talks with Turkiye are currently frozen. "It's not profitable to hold talks right now. We each get to work somewhere and then we'll see how long this pause lasts," he told the radio host. Finland's Foreign Minister Pekka Haavisto has recently suggested that the country may decouple and consider joining NATO without Sweden if Turkiye continues to block their joint bid to enter the alliance. In a recent interview with Anadolu, Stenstrom said the promises made by the Nordic countries were a top priority for the Swedish government. "We're working on all, we will fulfill the total agreement." In response to a question on Sweden's support to the PKK, Stenstrom said this was no longer the case. "Yes, we have changed. I have my own theory.

Sweden's foreign minister Tobias Billstrom has called on a tougher crackdown on the PKK, a Kurdish separatist terror group, saying that the group's activities in Sweden's territory were "extensive" and "a bigger problem than we realised".
"There are extensive operations to gather in money and to finance terror activities which are directed at another country, Turkey," Billstrom told the Dagens Nyheter newspaper in an interview.
He said that the terror group's fingers extended into gang crime in Sweden, and that Sweden was a base for PKK activities in protection rackets, drug selling and "a whole range of things which damage Swedish society".
"We have only things to gain by cooperating with Turkish authorities when it comes to sharing information and surveillance of organised crime," he said. "But we also have a responsibility towards Turkey to get a hold of this problem."
Turkey's authorities have passed Sweden a long list of mainly Kurdish people living in Sweden who they accuse of being involved in or supporting the PKK, but Sweden's government has insisted that the arrest, trial and sentencing of suspected terrorists is a matter for the criminal justice system.
Billstrom said, however, that the police had increased their activities in tracking the PKK.
"As a result of the police devoting resources into mapping out the issue it's clear that this is a much bigger problem than we previously thought."
Sweden's government hopes that the new terror law which came into force on June 1st will mark a breakthrough in its crackdown on the PKK.
"This is a question which we have to take seriously it's not something we're doing just to win points in a negotiation," Billstrom said.
